The DOVS will establish a volunteer management system and program to expand and enhance the ability of BGCBC to provide direct service to youth, to provide assistance to the 13 Club sites, and to work on special agency projects. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the DOVS will create and lead a volunteer program which supports the vision, mission, and goals of BGCBC by drawing upon the talents and abilities of each volunteer. This position will be responsible for the following areas: - Development of BGCBC’s volunteer management program - Standardization of recruiting, assessing, and assigning volunteers. - Training of volunteers and oversight of volunteer operations - Progressive review & enhancement of the volunteer program - Work with Unit Boards. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: - A college degree is preferred - Three (3) to five (5) years experience in volunteer management, recruiting and training, preferably in a non-profit organization. - Two (2) or more years supervisory experience, including either project development or human resource coordination. - Effective leadership and team building skills required. - Familiarity or experience with issues that impact youth. - Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and communicate effectively. - Ability to effectively complete multiple tasks, priorities, deadlines and responsibilities. - Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers and consumers in a culturally diverse environment. Proficiency in another language other than English is a definite plus. - Analytical thinking, goal and priority setting, problem solving, follow through skills. - Experience with database systems required; knowledge of Microsoft Office desirable. - Some fundraising experience helpful.
